UNITED STATES AIR FORCE BAND OF THE WEST
The UNITED STATES AIR FORCE BAND OF THE WEST — 1 trumpet position with jazz improvisation emphasis and 1 trumpet position with classical/jazz background (2 positions total)
The Air Force Band of the West is a musical organization from San Antonio Texas that is located at Lackland Air Force Base. The Band of the West is comprised of over 45 talented musicians that come from some of the finest universities and conservatories in the United States and abroad. On a yearly basis, the Band of the West performs for over one million people throughout the states of Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Arizona. United States Air Force Bands support the Air Force Mission by providing world-class musical products and services to support troop morale, recruiting, community relations, and the preservation of our National Heritage.
Job Description
Perform with the USAF Band of the West Concert Band and Ceremonial Band as well as one or more of the following small groups: Dimensions in Blue Jazz Ensemble, Brass Quintet, and Warhawk (Popular Music Group).
Salary/Benefits
Salary can start as high as $34,000 (no dependents) with full military benefits, including complete medical and dental care and 30 days paid vacation per year. Under the College Loan Repayment Program, participants can receive repayment up to $10,000. Under the Post-9/11 Bill, participants can enroll in an educational assistance program that provides up to 36 months of benefits to eligible personnel for education and training opportunities. These benefits may be used for undergraduate and graduate degree programs, books, supplies and monthly housing, and may be transferred to spouses or dependent children.
Please submit a current resume and a 15-20 minute screening CD. Please include selections that will thoroughly demonstrate your tone, flexibility, range, intonation and rhythmic accuracy as well as contain excerpts/samples of your best playing (solo or with ensemble.) Selections must be recorded within the last two years.
Individuals will be selected for live audition based upon performance on the screening CD. This audition will be held at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
